How Aging Affects Erections and Reproduction

If you are a man, you reach your sexual peak in your early twenties. After this point, however, you can start to encounter several problems with your erections and your fertility potential. Like any other organ, your penis likely goes through several difficulties as you age. Many of these issues can be addressed by medical procedures, but there are those that are most effectively treated using psychological means.

It is important to know some of the common male erectile and fertility problems that can set in as you age. Here they are:

  1. Erectile dysfunction – This is the most common sexual issue as men age, and it is defined as the inability to start or maintain an erection long enough to successfully penetrate and achieve pleasure. ED can affect s much as 50 percent of all men ages 40 to 69, as well as nearly 70 percent of men paste age 70! A variety of factors can make ED possible, include hormone imbalance, damage to the nerves in the penis, use of certain medications, as well as environmental factors. You may have an inability to hold an erection if you are diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, or are a heavy smoker or alcoholic.
  2. Premature ejaculation – You can also encounter sexual stamina issues as you age even if you have the ability to achieve an erection. This is where you reach orgasm before penetration or very soon, before you or your partner desire. Premature ejaculation often strikes when there is a psychological trigger, such as performance anxiety. If you are stressed, emotionally upset, or having unresolved relationship problems, you can expect to ejaculate rapidly. Your anxiety about this condition makes it more likely to occur again. Remedies to premature ejaculation include pelvic exercises (Kegels) and psychosocial therapy.
  3. Male infertility – This is another big factor as men age: it may occur on its own or may be linked to erectile dysfunction. If you are unable to sustain an erection, for example, it may be your biological response to being infertile. With aging comes a decreased number of sperm, potentially along with blockages that can prevent the sperm from exiting your penis. Your sperm may also simply be no longer as effective as it once were. Infertility comes about as a result of infections, trauma, environmental pollutants, or use of prescription drugs. Fight this by seeking fertilization techniques or alternative forms of conception.

Seek the right male enhancement treatment if you are suffering from one or more of these sexual and reproductive problems in aging men. Talk to your physician and consider your medical history, current level of health, as well as preferences for treatment, such as supplementation.
